Angel Island showed plenty of ability on debut when powering home to take the fillies’ maiden at Cork.

Her victory gave the team a double on the card as Son Of Rest was successful earlier on in the meeting. A daughter of So You Think, Angel Island travelled in fifth approaching the home straight and improved into third over a quarter of a mile from home.

Hayes soon got into the drive position to tackle outside the furlong pole. She readily swept past her rivals and galloped on to score by two lengths.

“She had been working well all spring and likes that ground.

“She had been with David Wachman last season and he hadn’t done much with her as she’s a big filly.”

“She’ll have no problem getting an extra furlong or two and will go for the Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan next.” Fozzy Stack.
