Sloane Peterson put in an impressive performance to win her maiden at Cork on Saturday under jockey Chris Hayes for owner Craig Bernick.

Racing with little company on the stands rail for much of the race the daughter of Kodiac showed a good turn of foot in the final furlong to win by a neck with a further three and a quarter lengths back to third.

“She had to do it the hard way on her own, she is very honest and is probably better off going back up in trip again.

“The plan was to get her ready for the Ballyhane Stakes on August 23 so if we didn’t run here, there weren’t too many options for her over six furlongs.

“She has a nice pedigree and it is good for Craig (Bernick, owner) who gave a nice few quid for her at the sales last year.

“Ultimately the plan is to get black-type and to be part of Craig’s broodmare band but we might have a shot at the money first!” Fozzy Stack
