Son Of Rest justified favouritism to win his maiden by an impressive 6½ lengths.

Second on his debut last season before finishing fourth to Churchill in the Group 1 National Stakes, the son of Pivotal was soon at the head of affairs. He was urged to go about his business a furlong and a half down by Chris Hayes and quickly asserted his superiority.

“He doesn’t kill himself when he hits the front so the race wasn’t run to suit but he was entitled to do that.

“He wasn’t drilled for today by any means and I was half toying between coming for this race or the seven-furlong maiden but just thought the ground would be testing enough and came for this.

“He’ll go to Navan next month for a six furlong Listed race [run as the Listed Coolmore Stud Power Stakes in 2016] next.” Fozzy Stack

Son Of Rest’s owner Brian Parker is based in Malahide, Co. Dublin but is originally from Midleton, Co Cork, hence the red and white colours!
