Son Of Rest put up a fine weight-carrying performance to take the featured €50,000 Junefest Handicap at the Curragh for owner Brian Parker.
The son of Pivotal handled soft ground well when opening his account in a Cork maiden earlier this season, and the testing conditions again here certainly proved to his liking.
Son Of Rest travelled sweetly to challenge the front-running Patuano over a furlong out, and asserted under Chris Hayes inside the final 100 yards to score by a length and three quarters.
“That’s his job — sprinting. It probably won’t be soft enough at Ascot so he could go for the six-furlong Listed race (Belgrave Stakes) at the Curragh on Derby weekend.” Fozzy Stack
